Liposomes
Using Liposomes in supplements
A liposome is a microscopically small, spherical-shaped particle that has a lipid (fatty) bilayer surrounding an aqueous pocket. Liposomes can enhance the absorption and bioavailability of nutrients.
Liposomes in supplements protect the encapsulated nutrients from degradation in the digestive system. Furthermore, liposomes can make certain nutrients that are very hard for the body to absorb (e.g. curcumin) much more absorbable. Many nutrients, such as vitamins A, D, E, and K, are fat-soluble. Thus the lipid bilayer facilitates absorption, improving the bioavailability of these vitamins.
